Although the Ziplock rule seems to be getting lifted in more and more airports recently, it’s still a big point to consider whenever you travel with just a carry-on bag. Here are some items I always pack in my cosmetic bag and some beauty products I bring but not inside the Ziplock bag.
Solids vs. Liquids
Make sure to check the unit on the vessel. Some beauty products don’t count as liquids. Deodorant sticks, sunscreens and some creams often are packaged as solids. That means they don’t have to carried in that ziplock cosmetic bag.
I also love to bring shampoo bars whenever I stay at a hostel instead of a hotel. Given the fact that this is a travel site, I don’t wanna milk the topic of eco-friendlyness but you can reduce your plastic use by opting for solid cosmetics.
Sunscreen (a must have in any cosmetic bag)
SPF 30 minimum, SPF 50 even better. All day, everyday.
La Neige Moisturiser Stick
Aircraft air has almost no humidity. Relief some dry patches with this ingenious invention. Also very handy for your daily life. Just pop it in your purse and you are ready to go!
Full-Sized Tooth Paste
I refrain from buying the travel size tooth paste because they are always more expensive and never over 100 ml. There is no point in buying the travel size. Instead, I just make sure beforehand that my tooth paste tube is not completely new. This allows for the tube to fit against the rest of the contents of my cosmetic bag.
Perfume
Depending on the type of trip, I either bring Tommy Girl by Tommy Hilfiger or Flower Ikebana by Kenzo. Yes, those are two very different scents.
Whenever I travel with Carry-On Luggage only, I bring Tommy Girl. Why? Tommy Girl is a very economic option in terms of quality, longevity and price point. The scent is very fresh. You can use it to freshen up your clothes a bit. A bonus point: The scent of Tommy Girl reminds me of my High School years and reminds me of my youth.
For travels with a full-sized baggage I love to bring my normal day-to-day perfume: Flower Ikebana by Kenzo. This is one of my favourite scents.
